Super Scribblenauts is a side-scrolling action-oriented puzzle game  that requires players to collect objects called "Starites" by inputting certain words, such as "ladder" or "fire", in order to collect these objects. While in the original Scribblenauts players could not use adjectives in their words — for example, they could not summon a "flaming bear" — one of Super Scribblenauts's new features is the ability to add characteristics to objects, such as a "spiked refrigerator".[2] Players control the main character, Maxwell, using either the touch screen or the Nintendo DS's buttons.[3] It also includes a hint system as well as a level editor.[2]

5th Cell revealed they would improve the physics from the previous Scribblenauts, and fix the controls, as many have complained about the game's incredibly imprecise touchscreen movement system.[4] A better level editor was also told to be implemented for the sequel, which will allow the player to make levels from scratch and to make puzzle levels, as well as make action levels like in the first game. The company is planning to release the game on October 12th 2010.
