Y & T - ACADEMY 3, MANCHESTER UK 2010_10_02 (AUD_FLAC)
Including ful art work.
SHOW NOTES - November 6th 1981..anyone else remember what they were doing on that date?? I do for two reasons.. the first was we (wifey and I) were finally going to get to see our favourite band STYX at Bingley Hall in Stafford for the first time. Unfortunately, the Styx gig got cancelled due to someone being ill - something we only found out when we rocked up to the venue. The second reason I remember the date was this was the day I bought Y & T's 'Earthshaker' from an import specialist in Stafford. That album was - and still is - one of my 'sacred' albums - an absolute classic that was 'of it's time' but still sounds as fresh today as it did the day it was cut. I remember seeing them on the 'Black Tiger' but after that, I got the next couple of albums which didn't 'do it' for me like Earthshaker and they kind of faded from my musical conscience... until I caught their set at this years Download Festival where they put on a fantastic performance, prompting me to buy the ticket for this show!!! And what a great show it was- over two hours with barely a pause. Decent sound and Meniketti was in fine form. Shame PhIl Kennemore is able to tour at the moment- hadn't realised he was as ill as he is - but the band is rocking hard in his absence promoting the (rather excellent) 'Facemelter' album.
Oh yes... the Styx gig got rescheduled for a month later, and we saw them on our first wedding anniversary!!
