Post Description
Karen
Carpenter
Story
1989
This very successful TV movie was approved by Richard Carpenter, and directed by Richard Carpenter and Joseph Sargent.
It was available on VHS, but has long been unavailable, with no official DVD release.
A powerful retelling of Karen's life; quite touching in parts, and excellent casting. Gibb, as Karen, is very natural, and Louise Fletcher played a very understated role as Karen's mother.
Any biography crammed into 88 minutes cannot avoid shortcuts - but this tells a powerful story, and tells it well.
Essential viewing for all Carpenters fans.
